hire a lifeguard

if you didn’t know already, you can hire a lifeguard for your kids pool party!

We all know the kids LOVE these and so many pool parties happen every weekend here on our sunny Caribbean Island. Sadly, sometimes it can go extremely wrong and drownings can happen more easily than you think. One weekend I was home on a Sunday afternoon, and suddenly sirens and first responders were at the condo pool. A little girl had drowned during the kid’s pool party and needed to be resuscitated. It was extremely horrifying to witness and solidified my reasons for doing what I do. Fortunately, this little girl is now ok, but this is something that could potentially have been avoided if there was a lifeguard present at the pool during the party.

It's hard as parents or care givers to keep the little ones in direct sight at all times with all of the other distractions happening around you. That is what the qualified lifeguard is there to do. Their sole purpose is to watch the pool at all times and have the ability to recognise and rescue someone in distress, and can perform CPR if needed.

DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN HIRE A LIFEGUARD FOr YOUR KIDS POOL PARTY?

You may be surprised to learn that you can hire a lifeguard for a pool party! Lifeguards can be hired by the hour to watch swimmers of all ages and jump in in case of an emergency.

Contact your swimming instructor and they can help you organise a qualified lifeguard to attend the party to keep the kids safe.

If you are hosting a party, you have way too much on your plate!! You can get distracted from keeping an eye on your kids and instead keep an eye on your cooking or guests outside the pool. Let a lifeguard take care of the pool so you can take care of other important hosting duties.

Also, what fun is it to stand beside a swimming pool and keep an eye on swimmers, just in case something was to happen? Hire a lifeguard to enforce pool rules and monitor the pool. You deserve to have fun at the party! And you will have more fun with the peace of mind a lifeguard’s presence offers.

Lifeguards for hire have some major advantages over other adults, even experienced swimmers: They are trained in CPR, they are trained to spot signs of a struggle in the water, and they know exactly how to respond in the event that someone is in danger of drowning. If your child is in danger, you may not know how to react. Lifeguards know exactly what to do.

 DON’T HAVE A LIFEGUARD OPTION?

DESIGNATED WATER WATCHERS

You can also assign designated water watchers during the party, alongside the close and active supervision by parents.

A water watcher is a responsible adult who agrees to watch the kids in direct sight without distraction & wear a water watcher card. (Can be a home-made DIY card to wear around the neck).

After a certain amount of time, 15-20 min shifts, the watcher card is passed to another adult, who is responsible for active supervision of the pool.

Please share & help keep everyone safe while enjoying the pools and beaches here on island.
